The Evolution of Robots

Watchtower Robotics is a startup out of MIT helping to solve the world’s water crisis. The company, which graduated from TechStars and won the diamond award at MassChallenge, looks to conserve the 20% of water that is lost every day due to leaking pipes. Using Scout, a soft silicone robot with a carbon fiber exoskeleton, a small team of workers can inspect miles of pipe quickly and effectively. Watchtower Robotics has run pilots in Saudi Arabia, Virginia, the UK, Australia, and in Massachusetts.

I joined Watchtower for soft robotics research and development, working across data science, manufacturing, and design teams to push the technology forward. As part of the company, I worked on 3D printed injection molds, flexible sensors, PCB designs for single board computers, and prototyped a hydrogel printer at the Autodesk BUILD Space for printing two-part liquids.
